Craft Beer

Products endorsed and inspired by celebrities have long been on the market, but now they have reached the world of craft beer. Stillwater Artisanal Ales, a funky craft brewery based in Baltimore, recently released a Kanye West inspired beer. While the beer is surely just a marketing ploy to get people to buy it, it sure sounds and looks fun.

The new brew is called “I Miss the Old Kanye” references a line from West’s most recent album The Life of Pablo. The beer’s label is inspired by artwork from the album’s cover. “I Miss the Old Kanye” is an 8% ABV imperial porter that tastes like a grown-up Dr. Pepper. It features an array of flavorful ingredients including star anise, vanilla, prunes, plums, cloves, and juniper. In keeping with its Dr. Pepper theme, the beer comes with the mysterious tagline: “I’ve been afflicted by not one, not two, but all twenty-three flavors. I’m always one-of-a-kind.”

This is not the first celebrity-inspired brew from Stillwater Artisanal Ales. They have also created beers based on Kendrick Lamar (“Moneytree$”), Drake (“Hopvine Bling”), Tennis, Lower Dens, and other rap and hip hop artists. The brewery was founded by former DJ Brian Stillwater, so it’s no surprise that music has found its way into his craft beer creations.

Stillwater Artisanal Ales is known for its uncommon beer styles, pop culture inspiration, amazing label artwork, and collaborations with other breweries. Most of their beers are also a high ABV percentage, so the next time you’re in Baltimore give their brews a try for a unique beer experience.
